Oh, Martha!

When it comes to cooking I'd rate myself a 3 out of 10.  Growing up I never really had the opportunity to cook.  In college my dinners consisted of cereal, bagels and cream cheese, or a frozen pizza.  However I attempted this skillet cookie and was actually successful!  Yeah me! (Not that this counts as dinner, or maybe it does?)  The recipe is pretty easy and yes it is brought to you by Ms. Martha Stewart. So I thought I'd share it with you.  Enjoy!

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 3/4 cup packed light-brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups (about 9 ounces) mixed milk- and semisweet-chocolate chips
  • 2 pints vanilla ice cream

7.13.2012

Not only was it Free Slurpee Day this week (7.11.2012), but today is also Friday the 13th!  As lame as it may sound these things make me excited.  So in order to celebrate I will be watching the classic horror film Friday the 13th, while making up orders.  The 25% OFF coupon code DEUCE is still up and running so don't forget to use it.  Hope everyone has a safe, but eventful (sorta) holiday!

Blinded by the Light

For as long as I can remember I've wanted to see the Northern Lights (aka the Aurora Borealis).  There's something about seeing something so beautiful light up the night sky that seems surreal.  A trip to Alaska during the summer would be ideal, although from what I've read you would most like catch a glimpse of them in the winter (can you say brrr....).  During the winter months it is darker longer, so the likely hood of seeing them is higher.  Plus it is dark, dark.  Have you ever seen these magical lights?  If so I'd love to hear a but it.  The colors are very inspiring.
